How many times has this quesiton been asked?... Seems like everyday But again Ill say Bell is who Im thinking gets the job, they drafted him in the seciond round and I think Griffin is too small to carry the load... although I will say I still think Mike Anderson gets goal line carries.

hmmmm....

Portis: 6'00" , 207 lbs
Terell Davis: 5'11" , 210 lbs

those are not very big running backs either and look at the stats they were able to put up. Although Griffin is about 2 inches shorter and 10 pounds less, he could fare well if given the nod...i think griffin will start the season, but bell will see his carries increase as the season progresses... for fantasy purposes, i also like bell in the long run

I don't believe it. I truly think Hearst will be the starter. He's kind of old but still productive. Playing behind that bolcking scheme will help a ton. Griffin is a scat back, a change of pace. I expect Shanny to go with the vet. We shall see....

Yep, I also agree that for this year it will be Garrison Hearst 70% of the time, then Mike Anderson on short yardage and goal line; around 7%, then rookie Tatum Bell learning and getting in 13% of the time. Quentin will get the remaining 10% from 3rd and long situations. That is mostly RBBC.

But A solid Barlow in San Fran could not beat out Hearst and neither will Tatum or little man Quentin. Hearst is a Shanahan type of RB, he is smart, doesn't make a lot of mistakes, picks up the different blitz packages, catches great and runs great. Yes, a little old but Hearst still has a lot of tread on the tires.

Good point, but wouldn't that make him ideal for a 3rd down back? Leaving the majority of the rest for Griffin?

It's still early - regular training camp doesn't start until July 28 - I think Bell still has time to win the job. ;-D

Quentin griffin: A generous 5'7" 195 lbs... That is 10 lbs my man and it means a lot in the NFL... Not to mention those couple of inches were what kept Bob Sanders from getting drafted in the mid first round of this years draft...

Net lets look at Tatum Bell's Size

5'11 212 lbs doesnt that look damn familiar to the other two you mention above...

That extra 15 or so pounds makes thwe difference ask Portis who actually beefed ump from that 207 last year to get to 215 in an attempt to stay healthy....
