I would have to go with Portis and here is why:

Portis:
273 carries for 1508 yards
33 receptions for 364
17 total TD's

Deuce:
325 carries for 1388 yards
47 receptions for 352 yards
16 total TD's

Portis had more yards on less carries, more TD's, and a higher yard per carry average then Deuce. The only area where Deuce ranked higher then Portis was receptions, and even with more receptions he still had less yards! So not only was Portis better then Deuce in almost every statistical category last year, but this year he will not be sitting on the bench for 3 of the first 4 games, meaning he will get even more carries for (most probably) more yards and TD’s. Better stats, more upside, and younger (surprisingly by almost 3 years) Portis has to be the guy IMHO.

I'd have to say Portis, but I'm leery of those sophomore blues. Just ask A-Train.

the rook makes a good point but look at LT, he got even better

Portis by numbers but remember McAllister lost playing time due to stupid injuries, also he plays for a better offense that what is in Denver. I would wait until i see the offseason grabs for both teams though

Both will have a great year next season. Portis will just have a slightly better one. Just a gut feeling that Deuce will be one of those players that has a few nagging injuries toward the end of each season, to slow him down. However, if Deuce stays healthy, it could be a photo finish.

only bash on portis is his first year looked alot like shaun alexanders... not that shaun isnt a good back, but he didnt exactly put up the same kind of numbers this year as he did last...

id still take portis, but not by a whole lot. both are top 5 backs.

i should also remind you that Portis did not start every game, and really wasn't used to his potential until the 3rd or 4th week...

Very true. It wasn’t even until week 5 that he got his first 20 carry game, and even then he still split time for many weeks after that. His carries ranged from only 4 in a game up to 20 for the first 7 weeks of the season. But then as the featured back over the last 8 weeks of the season Portis was the number one scoring player in all of football (this includes all positions and under ESPN scoring).
