Clinton Portis v. Shaun Alexander

Can someone convince me why Clinton Portis is a better pick this year than Shaun Alexander? Over the past two seasons, they're stats have been nearly identical from a fantasy vantage point. If I were building a team for real, I would want Portis as my #1 back, but should he be your #1 back in fantasy this year given these two choices with all the questions about his new situation?
