Our Draft

In the league im in, this is our draft system. You have to pick 1 qb, 1 rb, 1 wr, 1 te, 1 k and 1 def before you can pick anything else. On your bench you have to have 1 qb, 2 rb, 1 te, 2 wr, 1 k and 1 def. No less no more. Is this a common practice? Do you like this setup? Discuss.

2. I don't like it.

A. Not flexible enough...draft strategy is a big part of winning a league and this puts a hamper on it.
B. Certain rounds of the draft, everyone will know what you're picking.
C. I'd rather lick a kicker's foot than carry 2 on my team when I only start 1.

no its weird. you should be able to pick whoever you want whenever you want (assuming they're not taken obviously).

Heres a tip: Just pick Moss and you'll be all set.

It's not common and I don't like it either. I'd strongly recommend changing it. Do you only start 1 rb? If you do that is certainly unusual and if you start 2 only being able to draft one initially makes no sense. The draft also doesnt allow for any strategy or depth at the most important positions. 2 kickers and only 3 runningbacks?

yeah 2 kickers - i didn't even realize that at first. I would never, ever, ever recommend having 2 kickers on your roster. If your kicker gets injured, just drop him. I can 99% guarantee he'll be there next week.

Stupid Concept........The fun in fantasy football is grabbing the skill positions in the top rounds and leaving the Kicker and defenses to the last round of the draft, since they change so much every year. I also reccommend discussing this with league members and changing it

Well this is one way to get away from drafting RBs in the first round. I think this draft puts an interesting twist on who to select in the early rounds. For instance, the guy with the #10 pick does not have to select a RB until the 5th round or so and can still end up with a Edge. Not typical by any means, but there is definetly strategies you can work with. Personally, I think every league should have it's own rules and quirks to make it unique and fun.

I actually have more of a problem with the overall roster requirements than the order you have to draft in.

Yeah...I hate pointless restrictions like that. I'd suggest quitting that league and joining one that lets you pick who you want, when you want, and have whatever bench players you want.
