My favorite quote regarding Pennington comes from Randy Moss, who's played with C-Pepp, Brad Johnson, Randall Cunnigham & Jeff George.
(this comes after C-Pepp's incredible second season)
Q: "So is Daunte Culpepper the best QB you've ever played with?"
A: "Chad Pennington is the best Quarterback I've ever played with."
I think the guy qualifies as a stud QB, but I'm just not so sure about the quality of the Jets team.
Still, I think he should easily be in your top 10 of fantasy QBs.
1) Culpepper
2) Manning
3) McNabb
4) Favre
5) Vick
6) Hasselbeck
7) Pennington
8) McNair
9) Green
10) Brooks

I felt that way about him last year. Once the injury occurred everyone seemed to forget about him. Quietly I think he's going to have that monster year.

I took him over mcNabb, and several other QB's that everyone else likes. top 10 easily this year maybe top 5. Depends alot on McCarins ability to quickly get a grip on the offense.

This also is a dynasty league so nothing but upside

Pennington

Postby Bears_Fan » Mon Jul 26, 2004 1:42 pm

Pennington is young/talentled, McCariens should be key wr addition, and the jets will be playing catch up a lot. Assuming martin can at least make def aware of run and injurie aren't an issue he should have a good year. RANKING FAVRE as top 5 qb is insane though, anyone who lives in wisc knows that ahman green is the man and favre only get enough passes to produce good #s when the team is down a lot, which isn't very often. Sure, Favre does have good td #s, but those are laregly inconsistent and likely to fall from 32-around 22-26, which makes him a 7-13 range qb, not a #4.

I've seen Pennington drafted all over in mocks and really like him this year. What is the consensus here as to when he will still be available? I was hoping to steal him in the fith or sixth round this year.

Pennington went in the 9th round in my offline draft. I think at best he'll do as well as green or favre.

I would love him to last until the 9th round. I think he has the potential to be a top five QB this year, and would love to be able to wait on him. I think a Pennington-Moss combo may be way under-rated this year, may be able to get them cheap.
