I find it highly doubtful Foster will beat out Davis. Davis makes way too much money, and the reality is that owners will not let a several million dollar investments sit on the bench. I see Davis being the feature back, with Foster getting 5-10 touches per game.
However, Davis is getting on in years, and has a history of injuries. Thus, Foster is an obvious handcuff, but the problem is that with last year's performance and new-found name recognition, he will go before the later rounds in most drafts. The question then becomes do you waste an early and a mid round pick to secure the Carolina RB situation? I say no. Either take Davis and gamble he will stay healthy, or avoid the whole situation. If you draft Davis, and by some miracle Foster lasts until the late rounds or the waiver wire, then it is a no-brainer to grab him.
Vengeance is mine.
