Underrated, overvalued in College...

Postby creamdoorthirtyniner » Mon Jul 26, 2004 2:02 pm

Who is the most underrated runningback to come out of college? Most overrated? Best to go undrafted? The "Ron Dayne" category, which is the exact opposite of the category ahead of it? Possible steal of the century?

Nobody taking Clinton Portis in the 1st round when he came out was just silly. If you watched him play in college like I did you just knew he was gonna be a star. ;-D

Terrell Davis was a great, great pick for the Broncos as well. ;-D

John Avery in the 1st round to the Dolphins makes me want to poke my eyes out just thinking about it! :-t

Rashaan Salaam, Curtis Enis are two bad, bad memories.

Rashan Salam, Raymont Harris, Curtis Enis, KiJana Carter, Akili Smith, Tim Couch, Cade McNown in recent times. Tony Mandarich in the past for the packers. (great pick ;-7 ) Underrated is Portis, Terrell Davis, Randy Moss (think he went in the 20s because of off field issues) and those are just some off the top of my head.

Did all of you guys menchining QB's miss the biggest one, Ryan Leaf at #2 for the Chargers. That was one ugly pick. Also, Salaam and Enis are good points. Although I have a feeling that could be the bears more so than each RB?

Undervalued? Try Priest/Portis. Emmit Smith was picked in the 20s i think? maybe the teens?

I really wouldnt consider him undervalued considering he tore his acl and Ricky Williams stole his spot as starting tailback....

Undervalued:

Lee Suggs- The man lead the nation in rushing one year and he still went in the fourth round, not to mention he held off Kevin Jones for three years...

Michael Turner- Even though he went to a small scholl the man tore it up and still went in the 6th or 7th round...

Overvalued-

Laurence Phillips, Ki-Jana Carter

damn right, I remember reading something that said over the past 2 or 3 years of his college career there were less than 3 running backs or so in the nation that had a better statistical track record...it seemed odd at the time, but if that is true, then he was definately a steal as he looked really good on Northern Illinois.

Ryan Leaf at #2 for the Chargers

I just want to know, who here thought Leaf would be better than Manning?

I loved Ki-Jana Carter when he played at PSU. Although it should be said that getting injured didn't help his cause. So over-value may be a bit harsh.

Other over-value:

Brian Bosworth (growing up in Seattle, I was 12 years old when the Seahawks got him, and as a punk kid, I thought he was cool...sad, but true story)

Rick Mirer (another Seahawk blunder)
Drew Brees

undervalued:

Tom Brady
Terrell Suggs
and there are a host more, although I can't remember them at this time
