I wonder where he will end up? You don't here too much about him. It seems like all the talk is on Plummer, and where he's going. I wish he wasn't so streaky. Maybe Gutt can enlighten me here, but it seemed like he'd have huge games and show what potential he has, and then the next week and lay a fat egg. He just needs to add a little consistency. I think he could be a pretty decent QB in the right system.
Kordell had good seasons, games, whatever but he should more likely fill a reduced role like Antwaan Randle El, catching running and sometimes even passing the ball!
That's where he gets unpredictable but as a QB there are better runners at that position now and if he always has to throw he can't throw to himself, so it's easier to figure him out as a defensive coordinator.
There is definitely a risk in Kordell, but he did have a great season the year before this last season, and still has considerable upside. I think Plummer is every bit as much of a risk as Kordell. Plummer has had a couple of ugly seasons in a row where he has been interception happy.
Finally!
This should have been done 2-3 years ago.
I never understood the fasciation Cowher had with Kordell.
I admire a coach "sticking up" for a player - but this thing went waaaaay beyond that.
Personally, I happen to like Kordell. I think he's gotten a "bad shake" in a lot of ways. Especially with the "gay" thing.
But ... he's NOT, IMO, a quality NFL QB.
Hopefully, he will find happiness as a WR somewhere.
The Steelers can move on.
And everybody wins.
My 2 cents,

I wouldn't mind seeing him end up in a Colts uniform next season! As a backup to Manning, and helping out Harrison and James, I think he would be perfect. I don't see him taking the pay cut necessary to fit in with the Colts, but you never know. I really don't see Dungy using him at his best, but I do see some teams that could use his versatility, and not worry about him being the starting QB.
I could not be happier. Saves the Seelers a tone of cap room and now we can go out and sign D backs. Great news for a team that was a breath away from the AFC championship this year.
Kordell is a talent but also a head case. His ups and downs were legendary. There has been controversy for years about him and now the team can let that go. I am telling you I feel like a huge weight has been lifted.
Indy - I don't think he will sign as a back up. He has made statements all year that he is a starter and wants to start somewhere next year.
