#1 pick

Postby 85Bears » Wed Aug 11, 2004 4:00 pm

With the #1 pick and no keepers (new league). What RB do you take first?

TD = 8pts
yds = 1 point for 10
5 point bonus for 100
3 point bonus for 150

My candidates.

Holmes
Pluses - TD Machine, fellow Longhorn
Minuses - 31 years old, hip acting up, lost John Tait, "only" 10 TD's after week 8, only 3 100+ games

Tomlinson
Pluses - 25 yrs old, only weapon on team
Minuses - only weapon on team, WORST OL in game, bad/rookie QB, no WR weapons

Green
Pluses - WORKHORSE, Great OL
Minuses - ???

As you can tell, I am leaning towards Green.
Is that a bad move?

Does anyone have info on Priest and his hip? I can't find any anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. I have a the #1 pick in a 14-team league with these settings: TD-6 points; 10 rushing/receiving yards-1 point; 20 passing yards-1 point.

My friends think I'm CRAZY picking anyone but Priest, but I worry about his age and that hip. Tomlinson and Green are both mighty tempting.

REALLY???

Maybe I was looking for more than someone just posting their top 10 list.

Maybe I wanted to know if you think Holmes, why does his hip and his age not bother you.

Excuse me for asking for some insight rather than just a list.

Ummmm ... NO KIDDING.

Like 85Bears said, nothing wrong with asking for a little insight from those who think LT or Green may be a better #1 pick than Holmes.

Hmm, well here is the question you asked:
What RB do you take first?

That doesnt sound like you're asking for insight.

Theres also a search bar you can use, and youll surely find 1 of the 500 topics IDENTICAL to this one. Go ahead and use that, or maybe ask a question that sounds like you're asking for insight, and youll get some.

Youre right, except if he uses the search bar he'll find threads exactly like this one.

I am going to take Holmes first in a redraft league for the simple fact that the guy has scored way more points then anyother player at his position. He proved his hip is no problem last year and even if the age thing hits him this year...he will still be a top back. You just do not go from scoring 20+ TD's for two years to not scoring at least 15 unless an injury happens. You can not worry about injuries too much when drafting because they hit everyone, unless you are talking about a guy like Faulk. If it was a keeper league though I would take LT because he is younger. In three years he will still be playing and Holmes probably wont.

THANKS TO A FELLOW BEARS FAN!!!

Have you heard anything else about his hip lately though?

My other problem is his only having 3 100+ yard games last year.

100 yards is a 5 point bonus which is almost like a TD.

goleafsgo96 -

Sorry I didn't get SPECIFIC with my question. I thought by listing the pluses and minuses people would react to them. My bad for having faith.
