Burleson could supplant Robinson, 8/11 The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that WR Marcus Robinson missed most of the Vikings' Tuesday morning practice with a hamstring injury. Afterwards, head coach Mike Tice hinted that Robinson could lose his job in favor of second-year WR Nate Burleson.
"Nate has been excellent," Tice said. "Maybe he's our No. 2 and Marcus is our No. 3. Who knows? That will all play itself out."
A great answer from the most honest coach in the league. I had Burleson as my top WR sleeper until they signed Robinson. He might still be worthy of that designation.
The most honest coach in the NFL? I trust Mike Tice less than any other coach (and not because he's the Vikes coach). But I do think Burleson has some game, I don't think much of Marcus Robinson either.

If anyone actually thought Marcus "I can play 5 games a season" Robinson was gonna have an impact in Minnesota, maybe this will change their mind? Probably not.
I will laugh my ass off if Robinson catches for 100/2 in like week3 and half the world exclaims he's the next coming of Cris Carter. I had Burleson as the starter by mid-season, looks like Tice may have updated that to read "opening day starter".
I think the majority of folks around here thought that Robinson wasn't going to do be the #2 guy that he was hyped to be anyways. I don't remember who posted the article here but I remember in the last week or so the handwriting was already pretty much on the wall. Burleson fits the bill more opposite Moss anyways. An excellent route runner, good hands, posession WR.

I was suprised when they signed M.Robinson anyway. They have 2 young WR's in Campbell and Burleson who have different strengths that suppliment Moss fine. Burleson, despite being a rookie last year, looked pretty good at times and should only get better. I could easily see him demoting Robinson to #3.

I kind of was surprised as well but I can also see the method to their madness. Robinson is a guy that has a little of both of what Campbell and Burleson bring to the table individually. Burleson is going to emerge into a solid #2 guy within the next year or 2 but Campbell is more like a slot/#4 WR that is a burner so at the very least, Robinson can make a nice #3.

Burleson and Cambell are young, tall, and fast. Robinson was young, tall, and fast 2-3 seasons ago and many saw this move as inevitable. However, Robinson is getting a lot of dough for a 3rd wr so if he is healthy for some of training camp look for him to at least get a shot at #2 wideout.
Burleson wins starting job, 8/24 The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Vikings second-year WR Nate Burleson has permanently supplanted WR Marcus Robinson as the starter opposite WR Randy Moss.
