Good news for Edge lovers

Postby GreenBay4Life » Thu Aug 12, 2004 12:27 am

Havent seen many posts on edge so i dug up alittle something that could help you out in determining the value of edge this year.

Guarantees for James

The Colts have addressed the 2004 portion of running back Edgerrin James' contract.

According to one of his representatives, the team has guaranteed two performance incentives -- $1.5 million, which would have been triggered by James rushing for at least 1,000 yards, and $1.375 million, which kicked in if he reached the 1,200-yard mark.

That ensures a profitable 2004 for James: $4.4 million. The figure includes a $235,000 reporting bonus and a $1.3 million base salary.

"We adjusted the contract, which we have routinely done," Polian said.

James can earn another $1 million by rushing for at least 1,400 yards.

we all know how much edge loves money i can see him posting some really solid numbers this year. is my eyes he could be under rated compared to the other 1st rd backs. whats your thoughts?[/quote]

I think he finishes Top 5 this year. It would be hard to go too far up in the Top 3 though since there are too many weapons to share the offensive wealth on the Colts.

He used to be the top dog (along with Faulk) so I don't see why he can't re-emerge as a top 5 guy. He's got all the tools, and all the supporting cast around him. His knee worries me, though.

Franchise Fan included a good article about him here. Between the 2nd half of last year and this story, I'm drinking the Edge punch more than ever. I'm seriously tempted to take him over J. Lew this year.

I expect Edge to have a solid campaign, but I don't think he'll dominate the fantasy game. Top 5 is the most I see for him, and more than likely 6-7 if he plays very well.

I've already got Priest in a 10-team one-keeper which I pick last. I'm praying Edge or Fred Taylor, who I'm also high on this season, somehow make it back to me. I'll be licking my chops if that were to happen.
