Anyone draft Individual Defensive Players?

My league is using indiv. def. players this year for the first time and we're not sure how to incorporate them. We are going to start 3 (1 D-line, 1 LB, 1 D-back).

How do you guys do it? What is the scoring system like, where do they get drafted? etc. Any help would be great. Thanks.

For LB I like a LB who plays all the time (all downs for the DEF) and on a bad team, so he will be out there alot

DL I dont know just pick someone and hope for sacks

DB I like to pick a CB opposite a shutdown corner because they get alot of action, so they get defensed passes, tackels, and hopefully some picks. I dont know who it is,but whomever is playing oipposite Champ in Denver would be a possibility.

As for when to draft I guess just go by fantasy points figure out where people would go, and then drop them a bit. There are so many that they dont grow scarce so you can get people off of waivers anytime. Of course Tackle machines like Ray Lewis will go early, but I dont know how much more he is worth than other guys. I haven'tplayed with IDP for a couple of years now but thats my input

I like IDP drafts. Watch for teams that play 3-4 def for LB's more than not one will be a rushing lb. Even teams that don't have overall great d's have good t/o ratio. Look at KC's d last year. a pitiful d overall but nice t/o points. Minn the same way. For scoring d's NE and Balt were above all the rest but there were several IDP's with better stats, t/o wise. Leonard Little got me great points for his sacks but STL wasn't a great D overall. Last year was my first year in a league with IDP's so I'm not an expert by any means but the experience was good and I learned a lot about where to draft and who to draft and what to look for.

Hmm, with that setup I strongly reccomend your first 2 def. picks are DE's. While DE's usually put up the least points and arent all that consistent, there's almost no depth there. DBs have the most depth, and LBs while having similar depth just socre so many more points. Normally I like taking LBs first, going high on only 1 premium DE, but this scheme is akin to starting 3 RBs and 1 WR on offense. So I'd have the top 15 DE's easily at the very top of my draftboard on defense.
