Fanball.com has learned from a source close to the Vikings, that the team intends to have two 1,000-yard rushers this season, implying a somewhat even distribution of carries for running backs Michael Bennett and Onterrio Smith.

This obviously flies in the face of all the recent public statements made by the coaching staff—that Bennett would get almost all the carries. That is, unless they foresee Smith averaging 20 yards with every handoff he takes. That would be a record. It's doubtful the preseason will tell us anything, as coaches rarely tip their hands. Running back committees hurt the fantasy value of all involved, but it remains to be seen how many carries Smith actually gets if Bennett is on a roll.

I bet NOT as well, however, this may be the nudge needed to let Michael Bennett fall a little bit into the 3rd round so that I can grab him. He's been inching his way up into the 2nd round and has gotten too pricey for me to take him there. I like him better as a 3rd round option.

Ill say not also. Everyone would love to have 2 good running backs, but it won't happen. Bennett will get the majority of the carries as long as he stays healthy.

I say definitely no. Bennet will win the full time job and Smith will get a series every game. Poor Moe Williams, he deserves to be starting somewhere.

Baaahahahaha. Nicely put. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Tice himself started this rumor. (Never trust an ex-Seahawk) They have Moe Williams penciled in as the long range FG kicker, just to get him involved.

It reminds me of last year, when there was talk in San Franciso of having two 1,000-yard rushers in Barlow and Hearst...
