Injuries are part of football. How is getting injured in the second week of the preseason much worse than the 8th week of the season? Durability is part of research and the drafting process. Every league will undergo problems with injuries, it's an inevitable process through football. It's not any more "lucky" for a player to keep his players healthy throughout the season than it is for them to keep them healthy through the preseason.

I agree, injuries are part of the game, and how you respond to them dictates how good a fantasy manager you are. However, as commissioners, it's our responsibility to keep the league competitive, and if somebody loses their first round pick before the seasons starts, they're probably gonna get kicked around all season (especially in larger leagues), and that will throw off the balance in the league. There's no harm in waiting a few weeks to avoid this scenario.

I'd prefer to draft on Sept 4th - 6th. Last game of the preseason is the 3rd and the 1st game of the regular season is the 9th. Three to five days is plenty of time to fiddle fart around with FA's and trades.
That's my two cents and it's worth every penny of it!

Since 1986 when our league was formed, we've had our auction/draft the last Sunday before the reg. season starts.

I have mine the 28th of this year. Seems too many wives didn't like the labor day weekend idea.

RB/WR/TE: 1pt per 10 Yds Rushing/Receiving - 6 pts per TD

Sept. 4th this year. Everyone's off for the day and if it runs late no one has to get up the next morning. Very last weekend before the season starts

I always enjoy waiting until the last Sunday before the opener. All the guys get together for golf the day before.`
