Aug 12 Fanball.com has learned from a source close to the Vikings, that the team intends to have two 1,000-yard rushers this season, implying a somewhat even distribution of carries for running backs Michael Bennett and Onterrio Smith.

Views: This obviously flies in the face of all the recent public statements made by the coaching staff—that Bennett would get almost all the carries. That is, unless they foresee Smith averaging 20 yards with every handoff he takes. That would be a record. It's doubtful the preseason will tell us anything, as coaches rarely tip their hands. Running back committees hurt the fantasy value of all involved, but it remains to be seen how many carries Smith actually gets if Bennett is on a roll.
