The Atlanta Falcons released wide receiver Shawn Jefferson, cornerback Ashley Ambrose, and defensive lineman Shane Dronett Friday in a cost-cutting move. By terminating their contracts, the Falcons will save roughly $6 million on the cap, bringing them close to $9 million under the league's spending ceiling. Jefferson and Ambrose could be brought back later if they don't latch on elsewhere in free agency. Team officials have made it clear that they are in the market for a number one wideout via free agency.
In short, this move was done to create enough room to go after David Boston, should he become an unrestricted free agent next week. Play that scenario out and assume Boston gets his off-field act together. Mike Vick to Boston would be pretty scary.
Now when there was talk of them going after peerless I was all for it (Too late now). Boston on the other hand is a different matter.
I wonder how he would do working with Vick.
