WR vs TE in Fantasy Drafts

Postby Johnny Unitas » Sun Aug 15, 2004 11:29 pm

Just curious where some of you would consider drafting the 1st TE in a draft that does NOT have a separate position for TE's?

One league I'm in runs this format, and Gonzo is my #1 ranked TE (most likely the consesus on this site):
I have him ranked #28, meaning I have 27 Wide-outs ranked ahead of him.........any thoughts?

I think last year he outscored all but about 25 WR's. So, that actually sounds like a pretty good ranking. I'd say he is a great #3 WR (and maybe even a low #2) for a team since he gets about 1000 yards a year and 10+ TD's.

He'll barely break 1000 yards and score 6-10 tds... pretty good but not great for a WR. I wouldnt want him being an every week starter. I'd probably take hm as a 3 or 4 WR.

Gonzo went late in the 3rd round in my draft. I was able to get Shockey late in the 7th round.

In my league that uses TE as WR, I have projected Gonzo and Heap in round 7. I see them as mid-range #3 WRs (#25 or so overall at the position). Shockey and Winslow can go in round 10 or later, I would say. Now, this league counts receptions as one point apiece. Based on just yardage and TDs, I might be inclined to agree with terpfan, as annoying as that idea may be. ;-D
