Players not getting "talked about" a lot:

Ok....I may be off base here, but I've been lurking in the distance most days on here and the following are some name of players I like a lot that are not being talked about a lot for whatever reason. With these players, at least some of them, the less talk the better as I feel they might slip under some people's radar a bit or go later or cheaper in drafts maybe than they deserve to. Of course, this post get's the discussion up on them and is in and of itself self defeating I guess.

QB:

McNabb (#1 on my QB projection list)
B. Leftwich (#13)
C. Pennington (#17)

RB:

Dillion (#12) (ok, I have seen him mentioned a couple times, but not much)
B. Westbrook (#14)

WR:

Chad Johnson (#4)
Joe Horn (#6)
Steve Smith (#9)
Santana Moss (#10)
J. McCareins (#19)

Ok....time for some well earned zzzzz's....man, this thing (the Cafe) is as bad as coffee....keeps me up at night when I should be sleeping. I guess I can rest after I die or after all my drafts end, whichever comes first.

I agree, those guys aren't talked about much, but some of those rankings are way off. Pennington at #17 beind Leftwich?! He could end up being a top 10 qb.

A couple other guys who don't seem to get much fantasy love are trent green (400 yards, 25 tds -- what's not to like?), rod smith, and fred taylor.

I hear plenty of talk about CJ, Dillon, and Horn. Generally, those players who aren't flashy, but have proven their worth consistently aren't talked about. For example, a Mason would hardly ever make any noise except when a player wants to trade him. CJ, Dillon, Westbrook, Pennington, McNabb, Smith, McCareins are all very solid players who have cemented jobs and are going to put up consistent numbers. There's no huge reason to expect a huge gain or a huge dropoff, so the luster of talking about them just isn't there.

McNabb - capable of top 5 stats, don't see him higher than Manning or Cpepp here...#3 for me
B. Leftwich - also agree that he is underrated and rarely talked about...#13 is where I have him as well
C. Pennington - Wow...#17? He's my #10, and goes higher than that in a good amt of mocks


Dillion - he's been talked about a fair amount over the past couple of months...I agree right where you have him at #12
B. Westbrook - I really don't think you want him at #14 with Buckhalter splitting time. I don't see WB's TD production worthy of such a high ranking. I have him at #20.

WR:

Chad Johnson - #4 is perfect
Joe Horn - #7 is good for me...gotta put Owens/Ward ahead of him
Steve Smith - #11 for me...size makes him vulnerable
Santana Moss #10 is great...but same with Smith...still I like 10
J. McCareins - #19 is insanely high, and you'd be reaching like the V-stretch on this one, man. I have him at #29, and that's a couple picks AHEAD of his mock draft avg!

i think the most un talked about top end player is amani toomer. i've heard nothing about him all summer

I agree some of the rankings are a bit off for my liking:

Penny-too low
Leftwich-too high
Westbrook-too high
Johnson-pick or two too high
Moss-pick or two too low
McCareins-way to high

Others seem about right

But i think Horn might be a a couple slots too high, but could see him being the 6th best.

I have heard about most of the players, McNabb will not be the number one fantasy QB, no way is he above cpepp manning. Penny should be above lefty.

Chad Johnson - I dont see him as the number 4, moss,harrison,holt,ward all in front of him at least. Palmer playing QB will hurt his stats.
Joe Horn -Good, but I can see him falling out of the top 10 this year... If Stallworth picks it up...
Steve Smith - Had a career year last year, dont expect a repeat.
Santana Moss - could be top 7 come the end of the year.
J. McCareins - Overrated, dont even think about him breaking the top 20.

As for the other guys, try searching for them. maybe youll find some older posts about them

Thanks for your perspectives on these guys. Don't worry, I am not in any real snake drafts. All my drafts are auction style. I am enamored with McNabb but will not overpay for a QB services. However, I have him rated much higher than most, so may be able to get him at a good price. I usually devote 65-70 percent of my salary cap to my RB position, and we only start 2 each week (I usually get 2 bench players as well, as per usual).

Each of the past two seasons I have picked up a QB that has turned peoples heads a bit as my starter. Pennington two seasons ago and Hasselbeck last season. This season is McNabb's turn. We'll see if I'm crazy come season end. But I have my reasons for ranking him #1 QB.

Leftwich could really bust out....flus he's a fleet a foot QB. He is strickly backup material for me in my drafts. However, one is a keeper draft (keep a 2 players each year starting this season and can only keep for one season before player goes back into free agent pool). I really want Leftwich in that keeper draft. But again, I will not overpay for him.

Pennington is a gut thing. The injury worries me. No time to go into it now. Will get him if price is right as he worked well for me two seasons ago bringing me a Super Bowl ring.

I am really high on Dillion. He is my top target for my #2 starter at RB.

Westbrook.....yeah....I may have to drop him down my rankings. But the Eagles schedule against the run....wow....nice! All said, I probably will not get him....will drop out of bidding too early.

Chad Johnson is very much boom or bust. I don't alot much to WR's each season, so I probably won't get him or Horn.

Steve Smith and Santana Moss are smallish and not SURE THINGS, but clkose there to it. Smith may drop below Moss on my draft board. Will think about it at work today.

McCareins will go underrated by all and I should get him cheap.
