Yahoo stat settings

Postby wannabthechamp » Wed Aug 18, 2004 2:59 pm

I'm looking for a little help here with setting the stats for my Yahoo league, as I can't really remember the good settings I had last year. Right now, here's what they are:

Passing Yards (50 yards per point)
Passing Touchdowns (6)
Interceptions (-2)
Rushing Yards (20 yards per point)
Rushing Touchdowns (6)
Reception Yards (20 yards per point)
Reception Touchdowns (6)
Return Touchdowns (6)
2-Point Conversions (2)
Fumbles Lost (-2)
Offensive Fumble Return TD (6)
Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3)
Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3)
Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3)
Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4)
Field Goals 50+ Yards (5)
Point After Attempt Made (1)
Sack (1)
Interception (2)
Fumble Recovery (2)
Touchdown (6)
Safety (2)
Block Kick (2)
Points Allowed 0 points (10)
Points Allowed 1-6 points (7)
Points Allowed 7-13 points (4)
Points Allowed 14-20 points (1)
Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)
Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1)
Points Allowed 35+ points (-4)

What would you change to it? Not only the stats, but are there any categories I should take away?

Right now, you have a TD heavy league... I prefer a more evenly divided kind of league... These are my settings in one of the leagues I commish:

I would change Passing TDs to 4 points instead of 6.

But only if you change the passing yardage to 20 yards per point.... And the receiving / rushing yardage to 10 yards per point...

I look at it like this... I like for a very respectable day out of a QB to be about 25 points... That would be 300 yards and 2-3 TD's...

Same for a good RB outing... 120 yards / 2 TD's...

Same for a good WR outing... 120 yards / 2 TD's...

I don't like for any one position to be far and away better than the others, and I don't like for a player who gets tons of yards but maybe not so many TD's to be worthless... I like an even distribution of yardage points and TD points, and an even distribution of points amoungst the 3 main positions...

That's the way I have it set up on the link I left you above...

6 points for all touchdowns, 1 point for every 10 rush/rec yards and 1 point for every 25 passing yards. Very balanced.

Alright, well I changed rushing and recieving to 10 yards per point, and decided to change passing to 20 yards per point. Anything else?

If you set passing yardage at 20, you need to also set passing TD's to 4...

Otherwise you will have a league dominated by the Peyton Mannings and Daunte Culpeppers of the world... You don't want a league in which the same 3-4 QB's are raking in 30-40 ppg... That makes the league too QB dependent on the upper end...

I agree it needs to be balanced. Our league uses 6 pts all TDs, 1 pt 30 yds passing, 1 pt 15 yds rush/rec. In this system the top RB last year (priest) scored 300 and the top QB (pmann) scored 297. We've used it for years and never had a prob.
