draft day policies

Two questions. 1. On our draft day we provide everyone with a cheat sheet, I would say we are about 75% competitive and 25% casual. Should this be allowed? I don't like it because i think everyone should do their own homework or am I being too tight-assed about it?

2. Should I use my own cheat sheet (which I'm more comfortable with) or use the cheat sheet provided (maybe it will help me predict when certain players will be picked?)?

1) Matter of taste. There's nothing inherently wrong with handing out a cheat sheet at the draft. Even if you do, I don't think it would keep serious owners from doing their own research.

2) Sounds like you already have a good plan. Definitely go by your own rankings, but if you can identify other owners that are using the sheet that was handed out, you might be able to guess how long certain players will remain on the board and time your picks accordingly. Any extra information you have can be an advantage...

I guess it comes down to how serious the league is. In a competitive league I would not like everyone to get free info. Let them do their own research.

i would use my own cheatsheet. I trust my own info and opinions.

If at all possible, bring a lap top... Not only can they be useful for up to the minute info, BUT the intimidation factor is a good bonus...

1. In our league I make up cheat sheets in early march. They are outdated by now, but that is what I hand out for people who don't have the time to do research.

2. Use your own research. I would almost want to promise you that your cheats are better than what is handed out. Trust your instinct and use the force.

Commishing our league I make sure every one does there own home work cause I will not provide it for them. We still are casual a bit but I am not peoples teachers of the game (in a manner of speaking) Second The onley tool I do provide is I project a Draft baord for the group so they can see the overall progress and stuff.

Our money league includes Yahoo's league-wide fantasy football plus. It's up to the other owners in the league to click on the information and do their research from there.

I personally like this, because there are a number of people that will use these rankings almost completely, and it allows me to strategize around them. It actually gives me an advantage for them to have a consistent cheat sheet to pull from.
