Cafe Madden League '05

Postby hayesb26 » Sat Aug 21, 2004 2:58 pm

I think we're going to give the cafe madden league another go this year on '05. This year, we will have just eight people in the league, hopefully getting the games done and not being as slow as last season.

I've got interest from about six guys already, and am really only searching for two or possibly three more people to play this year. The league probably won't start up for about another month, but getting people set and ready early is the goal.

Like last year, we'll just play one game per week. If you're one of those guys who likes to do cheese plays or anything of that type, don't bother asking in. Before letting any new guys in this year, I'll ask you to play at least one of the original league members to ensure you're a decent player and you don't use cheese plays, etc.

If you might be interested, respond in this thread or shoot me a PM, either one works.

I'd play if this league would include XBOX. So if this is a PS2 league I would not be able to play. So let me know.

"Cheesing" in the Madden Community means playing Madden unrealistically. Now this doesn't mean playing exactly like coaches run their teams, but rather calling realistic plays in realistic situations, and not exploiting the AI. An example in 04 was the TE slant out play that was open 99% of the time, exploiting the CPU's AI in coverage. Now there are 1000's of definitions of "Cheese." This is just the way I see it.

Honestly I don't think it'll be a problem, because we're all new to 05 and probably don't know of many cheap tactics yet, and also 05 seems to be a little more leak-proof.

BTW, I'm definitely in...

Hayes, you gonna be in with those connection problems??!?

Yeah I'll be in. I got places I can go and get a steady connection ;-)

And yes, cheese plays are just anything really unrealistic.

Ala going for it on 4th and 14 from your own 10 in the first quarter, anything like that. Running the same play over and over, using the AI to exploit the game.
