why is everyone low on tiki?

i know he has problems with his fumbling but i saw on tv that he's been working on holding on to the ball all offseason and blah blah blah all that good stuff. i got him in the 5th round just today, and in the 4th in another. sure he's not a first round back, he never was, but shouldnt he still have 1100+yrds and at least 8-10 tds, making him a good 2nd rb?

Most people do not like him because:

1) He doesn't score TD's.
2) The aforementioned fumblitis.
3) A former inactive RB is stealing carries.
4) Giants O-line is horrific.

The people that do like him:

1) Great receiving threat...racks up the yards
2) Believe Dayne is a joke and will not be a factor

So with 4 reasons not to like him...most people...don't really like him

The main reason I won't touch Tiki unless he falls really far is because he only managed 2 rushing TDs last year (1 receiving also). The guy had 1200 yards last year, but he just doesn't get TDs and I don't want to start someone like that.

The other reason is his fumbling. It's pretty bad, and I don't want someone chipping away at my point total because he can't hold onto the ball.

I don't think Dayne will be much of a factor this year, but it's just another reason not to touch Tiki.

Agreed...btw, aren't you the same guy that tried to make the arguement that Shockey was better than Gonzo? ;-)

He may not be a number one or a great number two anymore, but I'd definitely take Tiki Barber in round 4 or 5.

i got tiki as my #4 back in the 8th round in a live draft, which i think is spectacular. even if he gives the same production as last year, he's great value going that late

it's fairly evident that ron dayne is a big oxygen thief and should never take more than short yardage and goal line carries (which they never use tiki for anyways). that, coupled with the fact that tiki is a great recieving back gives me confidence that barber will never lose his job to any player currently on that roster
It doesn't need to be in good taste, so long as it tastes good

Tiki's ok as long as you don't give more than a 6 or 7 for him, for all the reasons expressed above. At 8 or below he's a steal in any yardage league.

So far in two pre-season games Dayne has shown (at least to me) that he isn't the short yardage back the Giants we're hoping he'd be. Hell he wouldn't have even had that TD on the goalline if it wasn't for the Neutral Zone infraction. How often are you going to get that many opportunities? ;-)

Some coaches put up with fumbling problems, but Coughlin is not one of them. He loathes fumblers, so Tiki's not worth the high pick people used to spend on him. Tiki doesn't score much either and Ron Dayne is looking very good. Don't overhype Ron Dayne too much, but certainly don't blow him off. Dayne has lost over 30 pounds and has been working very hard with coaches so he's very much a threat to take the job.
