Lions | Bly Landed - 7:58 PT: ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Detroit Lions have signed unrestricted free agent CB Dre' Bly (Rams) to a five-year, $24.5 million contract. He signed a contract that includes a signing bonus of $6.5 million and base salaries of $2 million (for 2003), $4 million (2004), $4 million (2005), $3.8 million (2007) and $4.2 million (2008).

This begs the question... why?

What a ridiculously stupid contract for a player who's best position is nickel back- thats why they're the Lions... Schroeder and Hakim to big money last year and now this

bly was the best they could do at CB in the FA market this year and they wanted to have somebody that at least wouldnt fall down every play at CB. so Bly may not be worth that much $$$ but thats how much you gotta pay when the CB pickens are slim and you need drastic help
