Mornhinweg joins Eagles' coaching staff
March 3, 2003

PHILADELPHIA -- Marty Mornhinweg, fired in January as coach of the Detroit Lions, was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as a senior assistant coach on Monday.

Mornhinweg was fired on Jan. 27 after compiling a 5-27 record in two seasons with Detroit.

"We are pleased to add Marty to our already fine coaching staff," said Eagles coach Andy Reid, who worked with Mornhinweg both in college and on the staff of the Green Bay Packers.

I guess your take on this depends on where you lay the blame.
The Ford family, Marty, Matt Millen or Barry Sanders.
5-27 is pretty grim in my book.
Personally, the Eagles just went down tad on my cheat sheet.

Yeah Wease, 5-27 is not something that I'd put on my resume, but I really think this is just another case of the NFL coaches taking care of their own. You always here stories like this.

Me (as coach of team X in the NFL) "Yeah I know that Joe Schmoe went 0-48 with the Bears, but I used to coach pee-wee football with him, and we went to the same college, and our mother's are best friends. This guy is a great coach." There are always scenarios like this playing out in the NFL, where guys are assistant coaches on some team together, and one becomes head coach, the others are quickly given coordinator jobs, or in this case an assistant coach job.

A good gig for Morningwheg.

This is just more of the Bill Walsh "family" that ...
apparently ... goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on.

Personally. For my money. Bill Walsh's WCO has
absolutely ruined the NFL I knew and loved.
Who AIN'T trying to run the WCO?
In one form or another.
Whether you have the players for it or not!!!
(See Seattle).

It's just this simple:
If you do NOT have Joe Montana, Clark and Jerry Rice on your team - give it up!
RUN the damn ball and throw DEEP.
Jeez Louise.
