J Lew is not worth the 4th pick. Assuming LT2 and Priest are gone, go for Green, Portis, Deuce, or SA. You could make an argument for each one being better than the other, so it is hard to go wrong.

Yea Portis is on my list, but JLewis is proven and if they postpone the trial it has to put him up there with Green and the rest.

The trial date is already set in November.

Lewis shouldn't be taken above any of the aforementioned players. He most likely will not repeat his yardage performance last year and his scoring shows no sign of improvement either. The guys mentioned above all should score more than lewis, which he can only make up for through yards.

As somebody who won his league last year with J. Lewis as his marquee RB - I agree with everyone else. Don't take him at 4. If he is still there when it comes back to you then maybe you take him there. He took an awful beating last year and not many guys post back to back seasons like he had in '03. Plus - you know he will have to miss some time for the trial so automatically he is out for an off week and at least one trial week. There is also no way to measure the mental affect of the trial. All in all - Green or Portis is probably your best bet if still there at 4.

I've got him ranked 8th RB behind the six above and Edge. If you do get him, make sure you have some decent depth in case he does miss time mid-season.

Lewis will definetely be there at 4...but you don't want him.

More than likely Holmes, LT2, and Green will go...leaving Deuce McAllister/Clinton Portis. Deuce would be your best bet...much safer than Lewis.

Lewis is undervalued

Postby tds04 » Mon Aug 23, 2004 4:53 pm

I got Jamal Lewis with the 10th pick in a ten team league. I never expected him to slide down that far. I picked up Musa Smith just for insurance in case JL misses a game or two. No, I don't expect him to dupe last years numbers but the guy is still healthy, and still runs behind the best O-line in the league. He's still an elite RB.
