just an fyi on some of the FAs avail still....
Jake Plummer — The biggest name in free agency had a good visit in Denver and entered into preliminary contract discussions, then flew to Chicago to meet with the Bears Tuesday.
Plummer has said he wants to make a decision by the end of the week. One question: if you were a quarterback, would you want to play with a defensive-oriented team that is conservative on offense or the Broncos and head coach Mike Shanahan?
Rosevelt Colvin — The best player in free agency spent Tuesday in Detroit after his visit with the New York Giants. He will meet with Arizona officials Wednesday.
Stephen Davis — The best running back in the market made Houston his first stop. Carolina should follow later in the week.
Emmitt Smith — The leading rusher in NFL history has spoken to the Cardinals and will visit next week. The Panthers and Smith have a mutual interest — he owns land in North Carolina — but he appears to rank behind Davis on the team's wish list. Don't discount Tampa Bay or possibly New England.
Hugh Douglas — The best defensive end out there was in Seattle Tuesday. Trips to Kansas City and the New York Giants follow.
Philadelphia will regret letting him walk — especially if he winds up with a division rival in New York.
David Boston — The best receiver on the market began his tour in San Diego. Baltimore and Atlanta have also expressed an interest. That doesn't mean he's the top receiver on the Falcons list. Atlanta officials met with Peerless Price over the weekend, who was slapped with a franchise tag by Buffalo. Working out a deal for Price appears to be the team's priority.
Kordell Stewart — The quarterback who was never appreciated in Pittsburgh now gets to travel around the league and listen to how all of these teams want him. He was in Arizona Tuesday and will leave Wednesday for Chicago. Baltimore has an interest depending on what happens with Jeff Blake. Stewart has an interest in Carolina and Miami.
Vonnie Holliday — The usual suspects in need of defense. Arizona, Seattle and possibly Kansas City are on the defensive end's list.
Mike Peterson — This is the sort of player Indianapolis needed to keep on defense, not let go. The linebacker has lined up trips to St. Louis, Buffalo and Detroit and may consider Cleveland.
Sam Adams — The defensive tackle has had discussions with Cincinnati. Buffalo is another possibility.
Dexter Jackson — The Most Valuable Player of the Super Bowl didn't get a trip to Disney World. But he will get to visit Pittsburgh and Arizona later this week.
Tory James — The cornerback has met with Minnesota, who can use as many good defenders as it can get its hands on. Cincinnati is next on the list.
Jake Delhomme — The backup quarterback from New Orleans is high on the Cowboys list and met with the club Tuesday. That trip was preceded by a detour to Carolina.
Neil O'Donnell — The Vikings want an experienced backup for Daunte Culpepper and came away impressed from their weekend meeting.
Charlie Clemons — Green Bay is looking for a starting middle linebacker for a second consecutive year and has met with Clemons.
Brandon Stokley — A solid receiver who has generated some interest in Miami.
John Thornton — An underrated defensive tackle who will visit Cincinnati and Arizona.
