About 100 people descended upon a suburban NY mall Wednesday to protest the arrest of a man who wore a peace T-shirt while he shopped. No arrests were reported. The group marched through Crossgates Mall at noon. At one point, there was a confrontation between one of the marchers and a man carrying a sign that read "9-11." Stephen Downs, 61, was charged with trespassing in a mall after he refused to take off a T-shirt that said "Peace on Earth" and "Give peace a chance."

This is the law going crazy, abuse of power. Arresting a 61 yr old man for refusing to take off his T shirt.

Hmmm. That's really bad if he got arrested for just wearing a T-shirt that basically said peace. It says however that 100 people were marching through the mall protesting his arrest. It also says that he was arrested for "tresspassing". I wonder if there is more to the story then what is being told? Wearing a shirt proclaiming there be peace is not tresspassing. I wonder if he was in some store making a scene or something? Just throwin' ideas out. If he was just shopping and not doing anything else but that, and he was wearing that shirt and got arrested, then yes it is absolutely ridicuoulous.

Rook, the 100 people came to protest his arrest , they werent there before.
The tresspassing charge stems from the fact the mall security asked him to remove the shirt or LEAVE the mall, which he did not, so then he was tresspassing.

Its the whole cop power trip thing that pisses me off. hated it as a kid and I hate it just as much now im an adult.
