Bubba Franks...top 10?

Postby Mercer Boy » Tue Aug 24, 2004 1:09 am

I'm in a 12 team autopick league. I'm trying to only pre-rank the top 10 TE's (I do NOT want to get 2 TE's! :-)) . For a long time Bubba Franks was a top TE because of all the easy Favre TD lobs near the end zone were to Franks...9 TD's in '01 and 7 in '02, but only 4 last year with very few yards.

What happened to this guy? Was it Favre's thumb, is Franks over the hill, or is he just not a useful enough piece of the offense anymore with Ahman pounding the ball. I am wondering whether to add him in my rankings or not because there are some others Yahoo ranked ahead of him...

He's definitely top 10. Add him in your rankings. It's hard to say where though b/c after Gonzo, Heap and Shockey it's pretty much a toss up.

I think that he should be around top tenish this year and could very well bounce back. As far as I've heard, Wesley Walls is gone which should help him as well as Favre's healed thumb. The way that GB likes to throw in the redzone, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for him to hit around 6 TDs. If I remember correctly, he's only 26.

Hell, with TEs anyone could land themselves in the top ten. I'd say he's a good bet, as he'll always have some decent TD numbers for the position.

One thing for sure, Bubba will be begging Bret for the ball, because Bubba is a FA after this year and he must prove he is worth the big bucks this year or he will lose a lot of $$. He is top 10, no doubt.

every idiot and their dog by now knows the top 6 TEs .... yet every damn thing I read lists

Gonzo
Heap
Shockey
KWII
Crumpler
Boo
Gates
McMichael
_________ end of list...... wow arent i briliant pay me thouands a year for that uselss info!!!!

what im after is who goes next? since most leagues are 10-12-14-16 team leagues, the next spots are just as important or more important.

im in this position and have no idea who to take.

how do the next 10 or so TEs go?

probable names are:
Weaver
Mili
Eric Johnson
Stephen Alexander

what order do these guys go in... and who else is worth having?

I dont think Bubba is a lock to be a top 10 TE by any means.

Id much rather have Dallas Clark, Desmond Clark, or even Kleinsasser over Franks. Dallas Clark is my lock to be a top 10 TE out of that list.

Franks is by no means a lock, but he is a strong candidate to be top 10.

And after those 8 TEs Gmoney listed...

Jones
Franks
Desmond Clark
Dallas Clark
LJ Smith
Witten
Pollard
