Bettis for Edwards?

Postby Newbert » Tue Sep 10, 2002 1:54 pm

Considering trading Bettis (RB-PIT) for Robert Edwards (RB-MIA).
What do you think? this will give me Edwards and E. James in the backfield.

Never trade a starter for a third down and two-minute drill back. Never.

OKIE, I was trading Bettis based on another post that read "Bettis is done for" so if not for Edwards then for who if anyone? And by the way thank you for your input:=)

more or less bettis is not a great fantasy back points wise but he is still a starter so thats what you must trade him for

edwards wasnt that but pretty much any other starter would suffice barring it being lamar smith or someone who will lose their job try for a pittman or equal type player thats about all anyone in their right mind would give you for bettis

I agree that the Bus is broken down and should be sent to the scrap yard....

However the other posts are correct. Do not trade a starter (for how long is anyones guess) for a backup. I would look for someone like Lamar Smith, or Corey Dillion, or maybe you could snag an injurned Curtis Martin. If you are deep in WR's you could bundle Bettis and a WR for a better RB.

The only reason Edwards had two TDs was because of extended 'garbage time' and they wanted to save Williams for another week.

Don't even think about that trade. You can't say the Bus is done just because of one subpar game (keep in mind it was against a great defense and they were in a huge hole). Buses are heavy, they take longer to get moving...
