Fluke=Steve Smith?

Nope... not a fluke. With the new rule (5 yard chuck) actually being enforced this year all of the smaller guys like Smith will excell. Holt, Harrison, Smith, Moss and even rookie Lee Evans will excell b/c now CB's can mug them as much all the way down the field.

S. Smith will get a clean release and use his speed and quickness to seperate from the defender. No doubt that S. Smith is legit.

Another vote for. Another thing that makes up for his size is his intensity. He's the real deal. ;-D

I definitely like his chances to put up good numbers. The Carolina passing game could be really good if they throw the ball more.

As for those of you like me, who think last season was a fluke for the Panthers. Steve Smith would benefit if the Panthers were behind more, because Delhomme will have to throw more.

I don't think Steve is going to ever join the top tier, but he's being drafted correctly IMO.

I wouldn't be so comfortable drafting him if he didn't light it up in the postseason, that coupled with his strong showing during the season makes him a decent #1 and a good #2.

Nobody's even mentioned Delhomme. He had an 80.6 QB Rating his first year as a starter. This guy can play... and he'll only get better. IMO, this makes Smith that much more valuable.

I had my doubts with Smith at first, but he has looked great in the preseason. He also has the speed and perfect WR to complement him in Muhammed.

Originally I thought he was a product of the playoff hype. Too often guys shine in the playoffs and return to normalcy next season.

But, as I looked back on Smith's stats from last year, and the more I saw of him, the more I think he's for real. Delhomme seems to always look his way and he always seems to get open. If you can snag him as your #2 I think you'll be very happy.
