McCardell holdout

Postby Diablo13 » Wed Aug 25, 2004 4:19 pm

Is this scumbag going to sign this year or am I wasting a roster spot. He's got me considering trading away Holt for to relyable Wr's, ie. Ward and C. Johnson.

Anybody know anything

Even if he does sign Id still trade Holt for CJ and Ward. Holt is going to go down in production this year, the Oline sucks and Bulger is going to have a tough time getting rid of the ball before getting crushed by some DE. Ward and CJ are top 6 and Ward is one of the most consistent WR in the game, and CJ and Palmer are getting nice chemistry together.

Dump McCardell. He dug his own grave there...and now it seems they are also going to make him drag the dirt in around himself also.

How is CJ reliable? He is only reaching stud WR status, and even though I expect him to have a nice season there is plenty of reasons to believe his is a risky pick.

If you want someone solid and consistent, go for Ward. I wouldn't trade Holt for Ward straight up, but if he provides what you are seeking go for it.

I gotta agree here. I'd do that trade. You are basically getting two starters for the price of one.

:-? For What It's Worth:

"According to the St. Petersburg Times, Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden doesn't feel Keenan McCardell has burned bridges with the team. "There's plenty of bridges left in Tampa," Gruden said. "We've got the (Howard) Frankland Bridge, the Sunshine (Skyway) bridge, all kinds of bridges. All bridges are in operation here. We'd love to have him back."

I would be leery of McCardell to begin with as I think he caught lightning in a bottle last year. I would jump on that trade in a heartbeat as (don't beat me for this IronChef) the Rams offense seems to be losing some of it's luster.

Not too many fantasy-worthy players coming out of South Forida these days with Tampa Bay seeming like a pretty disfunctional situation and Miami suffering the loss of Ricky.

Though I'd take a chance on Booker or Chambers, in the late rounds.

The Bucs will surprise me if they finish with a winning record.

Who in their right mind would give up Ward and Chad for Holt ? there has to be more to that trade ?

I took McCardell as a late round gamble. Im betting they work something out and he plays. If not, no real problem for me because I drafted him very late.
