ANyone ever quit because your trade was veto'd?

Postby The Sneaky Creep » Thu Aug 26, 2004 5:06 pm

I'm in an office pool w/ 12 teams and recently proposed a trade:

I get:
-T Owens
-K JOnes

I give: (He has C martin as his best RB)
-T Henry
-m Booker

It takes 1/3 votes to veto this tradea and 2 people already told me they will veto this because it makes my team better--while still agreeing it improves the other team.

If it gets veto'd I may try Owens for henry straight up...

what do u think?

i would veto that because you're ripping him off huge. henry has a bunch of question marks, and booker is essentially useless now in my oppinion. i think you'd have better luck if you threw in a better WR, or asked for a less valuable back than kevin jones (who should be pretty good this year)
It doesn't need to be in good taste, so long as it tastes good

what about Owens for Henry straight up? I have C Brown on my bench and A Green....H Ward and peerless as my other WR's.

Yeah maybe it should get veto'd....oh well :~(

Thats a fair deal. Henry is drafted higher then Owens, and Booker is drafted below Jones. The trade is absolutely fair and good for both owners. This is why I dont like vetos, I prefer a noncorrupt commisoner or 2.

Vetos are BS...it is someone who is jealous that you are getting the players instead of them. If the opposing player...who PAID his money to enter accepts the trade, then so be it. Vetos suck. I want to trade Matt Stover for Jeff Wilkins when Stover has his veto and then do the same in return for Wilkins and the commish told me it is shady and would veto it. Screw him and vetos.....vetos are only good when one person decides to quit teh league and make outlandish trades.

I'm off my soapbox

goodbye

the other guy is worried it'll get veto'd more than me....2 adults make a trade and it may get shot down.

so it's a bad idea to start dropping my players if/when it gets veto'd?

DO NOT DO THAT! That is one of the worst things you can ever do and you all work together, so that will probably have real life consequences. If its vetoed, suck it up and probe around for more trade deals.

dropping players isn't what you should do, talk to the commish about it and explain to him.

Vetoes are bullsh*t, they should only be used when collusion is present or extreme mismatches. I agree you have the better side in this trade but it is far from ripping him off.

yeah I've settled down a bit...for a while there I was walking around the office like Bill Cowher, chin out w/ that snarl.

The commish said if it gets veto'd he'll see what he can do to make it happen.

The part that sucks is that he, the commish, hit the "veto trade" button when I was at his desk just to see what it did...so now...all it takes is one more vote to kill it 'cause there are 2 others that don't want it to happen.

thanks

I'll let you know what happens
