Bettis - Is The Bus Pulling Out Of Pittsburgh?

The War Room
Keeping alert
In the next few months, many top players will be jettisoned because their teams simply can't afford them. The War Room provides an "alert list" -- players who could come on the open market in the near future.

Player Team Position
1. Darrell Russell Raiders DT
2. Brian Griese Broncos QB
3. Rodney Harrison Chargers S
4. Jerome Bettis Steelers RB
5. James Stewart Lions RB

Are the Steelers seriously considering letting Bettis go?
Is Amos Zero now THE MAN?
Anybody else got any info on this?

There is much speculation in Steeler country that Bus will go bye-bye.He's soon to work out with Bob Kersee, word is that he is healing to be strong as an ox...and as big as one too.

Hmmmm. If the bus does pull out of Pitt, then the stock of Famous Amos will go up a little huh? It will be interesting to see what happens.

I've always been a fan of the BIG back.
Earl Campbell 38" thigh kinda backs.
Bettis is one of my favorite players for that reason.
Plus - he actually shows some emotion and actually seems to love the game!
Probably the BEST move Pittsburgh's made in the last decade was taking Bettis when the Rams gave up on him.
I know he's got some mileage.
But I sure would hate to see Cowher and the Steelers let him go.
A back like this belongs in Black and Gold, at Heinz Field, playing in the mud and snow.
Well - there's not any mud in the NFL anymore. But you get the idea.

I would hate to see the Bus pull out of the Steel City but he is preety much done the unforunate reality is Big back wear down fast and I think the Bus is running on two flat tires and an empty tank. :,-(

It was great to see ya play but it is over time to retire with some class. ;-D

Weezer,I gotta agree with you that the Steelers should try to keep the Bus around,as long as the result is cap-friendly,not sure of what his contract looks like!He is a warrior & provides great spirit & leadership to the team.I was all giggly when they signed him from the Rams,I remember the day.I would love to see Romey come in to spell Amos & possibly in goalline situations...ahh,a fresh Bus coming into the line-up on 1st & goal, sounds good to me!Steel Thunder & Lightning!!!

Yea. This is sort of a mini-Emmitt thing.
I wish these players, once they've made a gazillion dollars, and the TEAMS could come to some kind of agreement.
After a while - surely is still not all about 'mo money, 'mo money, 'mo money.
I'd like to see certain players STAY where they belong.

Somewhere a while back GP and I were talking about Betti's future and I said he wouldnt see out his career in a steelers shirt.

It is sad for the game as a whole and sad for both Bettis and the steelers that guys like bettis and emitt get cast aside. Im not saying play them til they drop, but both those guys have a couple yrs left in them at pro level.

Ahh well :,-(
