From a Steelers message board...written by pitfan31:
"Peter Schaffer just renegotiated a contract for A. Smith to clear some cap room for the Steelers when it looked like we were going to sign D. Jackson. Then the same Peter Schaffer gets a deal worked out a day later for Jackson to go to the Cards. Are/wouldn't the Steelers be furious at this guy or do they just look at it as Jackson and Schaffer took the higher offer (with a worse team)? Looks like something you'd see on Arlis...........OR maybe is Schaffer working with Pitt helping to clear cap room with Aaron Smith for other options telling Pitt all along DJ might go to the Cards if they up the ante? Just wondering its all too weird."
