Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith injured his left hamstring when he was tackled by Asante Samuel with 7:37 left in the third quarter. He did not return and the extent of the injury was not immediately known

Well thanks, even though this doesn't really say much. Hopefully just another minor ailment.

Hamstrings don't hobble receivers anyway, right Mr. Bruce? Mr. Stallworth? :-o
"Sometime during the Pats game last week, I decided that Tomlinson was the best overall running back of my lifetime. There's nothing he can't do: deadly receiver, tough inside runner, explosive to the outside, you name it." - ESPN's Bill Simmons

Every fast receiver in the league seems to battle hamstring injuries. Santana, for instance, has been battling one this pre-season. I won't get too concerned with Smith unless I hear of something more sinister, like the words "tear" or "ligaments."
