Is Kevan Barlow that good?

Postby marcop11 » Wed Sep 01, 2004 12:37 pm

I just drafted Kevan Barlow in the 3rd round of my draft. "Experts" are predicting big things from him, but can he be that good on a team that BAD???

(10 team league)
(Start 1 qb, 2 rbs, 2 wrs, 1 te, 1 k, 2 dl, 2 lb, 2 db)

QBS- Aaron Brooks and Rich Gannon
RBS- Fred Taylor, Kevin Barlow, Quinton Griffin
WRS- Randy Moss, Jimmy Smith and Dante Stallworth
TE Shockey
K Josh Brown
DL- John Abrham, Leonard Little and Mike Rucker
LB- Donnie Edwards, Zach Thomas and Eric Barton
DB- Shawn Williams, Sammy Knight and Michael Lewis

I think you got a steal getting him in the 3rd. He's normally going in the 2nd and at the end of the 1st in 12-team leagues. ;-D

yeah - the end of the 3rd rd is much better value for him than the end of the 1st / beginning of the 2nd where he usually goes.

He should have a decent season. I predict about 1500 total yds and 8-10 TDs. Basically a solid #2 RB.

I also took him in the third round, after the stud WR's were gone. I think he'll be halfway decent, especially as the flex player on my roster.

Yea, I thought it was a good pick! I just worry about San Fran. They may be down a lot and throwing!!

I also have Q. Griffin. SO, one should pan out!

yes ...it is true that opposing defenses will be cheating up on the run...thus hampering Barlow's rushing yards...

it is also true the 49ers may be forced into more passing situations than they care for ...

but I see this possibly working Barlow's favor...

with his receiving ability, he could easily evolve into a slightly less version of Tomlinson

I never thought of that. I have LT last year and he was on an awful team last year and still carried my whole squad.

Good pt. thanks!

lol the one thing that sucks about the cafe is the discussions the new guys have we all had months and months ago :-)

Barlow isn't going to be used in the offense to the extent LT2 is in SD (and I know you aren't comparing the #'s)...but you seem to be comparing his use. Barlow isn't going to get 7-8 balls thrown to him a game like LT2 gets...I wouldn't expect a boatload of receptions. However, I do think he is talented enough to rush for 8-9 TD's and put up 1500-600 ish...which ain't so bad at all.

9 TDS and 1500 yds

Even if the 9ers are behind every game?

I hope so

true deft, ...I guess the 18 balls he actually DID catch during the four games he started at the end of last year is simply a product of ones immagination
