Vikings' Bennett Could Miss More Time

The Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings RB Michael Bennett (knee) may not return until after the team's Bye week. The Vikings have targeted Sept. 20 (vs. Philadelphia Eagles) as the game Bennett returns, but he may not be able to play until Sept. 26 (vs. Chicago Bears). Either way, the earliest he may be able to start a game is Oct. 10 against the Houston Texans, coming off the team's Bye. "That's the way I see it now," head coach Mike Tice said. Bennett has a second-degree sprain of the MCL in his right knee.

from KFFL. Might make Williams jup up yet some more rankings. Damn, I wish I hadn't wasted my high waiver priority before he wa dropped!

That poor guy has the worst luck. Probably proof that track stars may not make the best running backs.

Good lord, so he might be out three games and four overall weeks? In my competitive league, I am going to rank him way lower than I had him. Maybe I should grab Moe Williams off the wire in my "junko" league...

Moe is looking like a fine lil option for the first few weeks if you've got some doubtful RBs ;-D

Anyone else see this? The self-titled "Steal of the Draft" might be lurking:

NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports that Onterrio Smith could start the first few games of the season while appealing his drug suspension.

Very interesting. The Minnesota coaches have publicly talked about Moe Williams starting, but it could be a smoke screen. Under league rules, Smith will not serve his suspension until his appeal is heard. It's unclear when that will be, although Minnesota papers thought it would be this week. Stay tuned. I wouldn't count on much from Onterrio Smith this season, even if his appeal magically goes through. He's in Mike Tice's dog house for earning that "four game vacation".

Oh, I'm not advocating picking him up. I'm just saying that Moe isn't necessarily an attractive option. This RBBC in MN just isn't going away (I had Bennett last year, so I'm a little bitter).
