Why are reports (FFMastermind.com) saying that Ontario Smith will not play until October 17? I thought he was only under a four week suspension??

Depends on when his appeal is heard. From Rotoworld:

NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports that Onterrio Smith could start the first few games of the season while appealing his drug suspension.

Very interesting. The Minnesota coaches have publicly talked about Moe Williams starting, but it could be a smoke screen.
