Can he?? I was already under the impression that he is the #1!

From what I gather, Norv Turner wants to go toward a vertical attack, perfectly suited to Porter's talents.

Secondly, although it was in 2002, Gannon felt comfortable enough to go deep with Porter on several occasions.

I think that last year was an injury anomaly year, and Porter can bounce back to have a solid year.

he has to be. jerry rice is still a talented reciever, but not a number 1 guy.

I see Porter having a solid year. 1,000 and 8 TD's. The guy I'm really interested in is Doug Gabriel. The Raiders have been talking him up a little and what a great preseason he's had! Should be fun to watch the Raiders this year.

It's a bit difficult for me to see Porter as a guy whose talents make him best suited to a vertical attack since the last good look we all got of him was in 2002, where Gannon was throwing to a slashing Porter who'd catch the ball on the 3-yard line and score.

(In 2002, as Oakland's #3 WR, Porter had more TDs than Rice and Brown together.)

Still, I get that Norv like the vertical game. But I see Norv tailoring his own preferences to Gannon soemwhat as well. If Gannon can hold that job down, I see good things ahead for Porter and Gannon. Otherwise, it could be Kerry Collins, and that could be ugly -- though still not too bad for Porter.

What sort of running game will they have I wonder?

I agree that Porter will have a big year, but how does he compare to Chambers and Lloyd?

I would rank Porter a little below Chambers, but WAY above Lloyd....

Despite the hype over Lloyd, no one knows who the #1 WR in San Fran is going to be....
