Anterior Cruciate Ligament injuries are worse than Medical Collateral Ligament injuries.
The ACL is the ligament that runs down the front of your knee. Any force from behind ur knee going forward will cause an injury to the ACL. They say bad ACL injuries requiring surgery take about 7 months to heal.
The MCL is the ligament that runs down the inside of ur knee. A severe injury to this ligament takes about 4 months to heal after injury with full rehabilitation.
That is for injuries that involve a tearing of the ligament.
A strain is not much to be worried about.
