Witness testifies Puckett dragged woman into restroom
MINNEAPOLIS -- A witness testified Friday that he saw former Minnesota Twins star Kirby Puckett drag a woman into a men's bathroom at a restaurant, and that she appeared terrified when she came out moments later.
Alan Anderson, 31, was at the Redstone American Grill in Eden Prairie early Sept. 6 when Puckett allegedly forced the woman into a stall in the bathroom and grabbed her breast before she escaped.
"He was dragging her into the bathroom. She was trying to resist him,'' Anderson said on the second day of testimony in Puckett's trial.
"She was terrified. She was almost in tears. She was about to break down,'' Anderson said. He said she replied "no'' when he asked her if she was all right. "I thought this isn't right. Something happened here,'' he said.
Puckett, the Hall of Famer whose playing career was cut short by blindness in one eye, is charged with false imprisonment, a felony; fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct, a gross misdemeanor; and fifth-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Prosecutors say they'll seek probation and no more than a year in jail if he's convicted on all counts.
This just breaks my heart.
I collect autographs, signed ball cards, aquired either in-person, by me, or by mail request.
Kirby Puckett was one of the 1st autographs I ever obtained.
Really because I considered him a true, class act. Just loved the guy. Old school. Selfless and a star.
I guess the jury's still out on this one - but from all I'm hearing from S.I. and other sources. It's all too true.
Puckett was a fan favorite that couldn't PAY for a meal in MN.
My Kirby Puckett card is currently in an oak, wall mount display case I have for all my autographs.
I think it's coming out of the case today.
What a dad-gum shame.
