Roy Williams (WR-Detroit) prospects..is he #1 in Detroit?

Rogers is the clear #1, Williams still has to challenge Streets for the #2 job. Although both will be playing alot as there will probably be alot of 3WR formations.

It's gonna be tough for him. Recent history to the contrary (Randy Moss and Anquon Boldin), rookie WR's tend to struggle a bit more and not really breakout until year 3 (sometimes year 2). Remember, NFL CB's are MUCH more talented than college CB's, and getting separation is something learned over time.

Roy Williams WILL NOT BE #1 this year. In fact, I hear he is having a tough time adjusting to the pros. He has had trouble getting separation from defenders in the NFL, because the defense is much faster than in college. Williams hasn't been anything to brag about this preaseason.

Give the man a chance Please!! He hasn't even played more than a couple preseason games. How can anyone tell from that, and he has natural ability. He will be a true stud, but probably not quite yet. Rogers is too good to not be the #1

They have two REALLY talented wideouts. But they're young.

This probably won't be the year they BOTH breakout, but give it some time.

Rogers is the clearcut #1 for this year.
But in the future, along with a team like Arizona, they will be sporting a team with two #1 WRs.

I agree that Williams is the second guy, although I have a feeling that his numbers will rival Rogers. Im not sold on the Lions' D, so I think they'll be playing from behind (as usual) and thus more long balls are gonna be coming out of Joey. In my opinion that may lend itself to solid numbers for Roy.

I think that Roy Williams will fall short of expectations, but I think that the expectations are inflated, if that makes sense. He and Rogers could become the biggest receiving combo in the league. Just not this year, and not in a few if Harrington goes bust.

To answer your question, no, I don't think he'll overtake Rogers this year, but he'll serve very well as your 3rd or 4th receiver.

I have seen Roy play, I have full confidence in him becoming a stud WR in the future. Time will tell how long it will take him to adjust to the pros, but believe me he is not overhyped and he does have the talent.
