Is Miami's defense that bad?

I took Miami's D as the 13th defense chosen and think I got a great bargain. I know they lost a key player in the booker trade, and the D will be on the field more with Ricky gone, but is their defense really that bad? I hear a lot of talk about Miami's D sucking on here.

I don't think they're that bad on paper, but their offense isn't exactly going to keep them off the field very much.

Their running game is so bad, that I can't see them winning time of possession very often. That's going to expose them, especially late in games.

Plus, what was a swarming young D a couple years ago is starting to age a bit. But I wouldn't count them out, even Seau has some pep in his step at his age.

My best guess is that the D won't help you as far as low scores (but you never know, they have the ability to hold down some mediocre offenses, and there are a lot of mediocre O's around the league) You will be better off using them to get after intercepts, Td's, and possible return Td's. I hear the Special teams looks good.

overall, I would say Miami's D ranks to a B or a B-

Miami isn't that top tier defense anymore, but I think 13 is great value for them.

Miami defense is getting a lot of hate but they're still easily top10 IMO. They've still got the top DE in the league, a strong secondary, strong linebackers, etc. etc. Just because the offense is bad and they lost their pass rush specialist does not downgrade the Miami D into medocrity. I would jump at the chance to draft Miami in the 12 or 13th round if they were there.
