little blurb on fanball.com talking about his ankles and him taking it easy in the offseason
The News
Running back Curtis Martin will be limited in his activity as the Jets began their voluntary offseason conditioning program in Hofstra on Monday, the New York Daily News reported. Martin is still receiving daily treatment on his two bad ankles that limited his production in 2002. Head coach Herm Edwards said that he expects Martin to be 100 percent by training camp.
Our View
Martin will probably feel fine entering the season, but there's a good chance that his ankles will break down over the season. LaMont Jordan will continue to pressure Martin for playing time in 2003, and the two running backs will face an improved set of AFC East defenses. All in all, Martin's fantasy stock is probably the lowest it's been since his rookie season.
so is lamont worth looking at as a late draft pick with upside as a preemptive for if/when martin gets hurt for either yourself or trade bait for the martin owners (or if you have a jets nut)?
