Another One Bites the Dust?

Postby Cupertino_11 » Wed Apr 02, 2003 6:35 am

I picked this up off of the GridIron site...

The Sporting News reports Tennessee Titans RB Eddie George will likely be limited to first and second downs. The team is trying to decide whether to draft a third-down back or let RB Mike Green and RB Robert Holcombe share those duties.

Ack! Will the madness ever stop?!!!! Heh... seems like more than half the league is now adopting this committe approach. :-P

Well the choices are drive him into the ground before the playoffs or have him more healthy and alive at season's end. It's not as silly as it sounds...

It's just another take on actually using FBs to rush like the Giants did in the 80s with Carthon, Bunch etc..

Yeah, football-wise, it's probably a good idea to limit the pounding your back gets, but fantasy-wise it sucks. It will make us have to work harder with our choices. There will still be the "cream of the crop" pool of backs who do it all. Makes their value that much higher.

And their lives that much shorter...

Doesn't it sadden you to know that Ricky Williams and LT will be "over hill" in 3 years?

I love them both...but this game has gotten just so damn physical that there are going to be EXTREMELY limited cases of guys being able to be every down backs for 4 years straight without feeling the pain

I love Eddie, But he's old and being put out to pasture. He made a good run, he should retire.

I guess almost 800 carries in two years takes a toll Thanks Jeff Fisher for ending the guys career before it really got started. George is haveing the same problem as Emmitt the legs are just starting to go. I cant remember who said it but "...a running back has just so many carries in him for a career..." and Eddie has already had a career worht of carries

too bad about eddie too cause his end of the season helped me win my $$$ back in my league as a runner up.. he was getting like two tds per week and his points gave me some narrow wins (after my wr corps fell apart)
