The NFL is considering doing away with the chain gang first down crews and using a laser line instead. Kind of like the one you see on TV, but this one would be visible to the players and refs.

Hey I like the Chain Gang!!!

There as much a part of football as the Ball and I just Love how those guys haul @$$ when the play comes to there side of the field or when one of those old farts gets smoked. They fly threw the air real good!!!!!

I agree with rose. I like the old guys on the sideline. Call me a purist, but what will they all do if they do go with the laser? Retire? Move to Boca? Wear white leather belts jacked up to their armpits and complain about the government?

I don't like this idea at all. Call me a conservative, but I think those guys are just part of the game now.

Not to mention that a little blurb on ESPN put it almost perfectly. When those guys come out to measure, it gives you 20 seconds or so to run into the kitchen and grab a beer.

The NFL doesn't need freakin' lasers measureing 1st downs!!

Call me an extremist, but I think Lasers would be great!!!

I think they need to use them, on one condition: The lasers would have to be the kind that sear the skin, and/or damage retinas.

Halftime shows would be a lot easier to organize. Just take the lasers from the 'chain gang' and you have half your show!

On second thought, maybe they belong in the XFL instead.
