Yep, pissed that whoever drew up the match failed to actually match the offer in question. Justice served, plain and simple. This should have been settled long ago. Am looking forward to Morton setting up the Redskins with good field position in the upcoming year. If the Redskins would have been so sloppy or arrogant on matching an offer by any other team I would feel the same way.

Nope I think Fair is Fair-you have to play by the rules and the Jets didnt.

If it was the other way I would be pissed because I lost the player that can make a difference for my team but I would still say serves them right

I can't fault the Jets completely here.

But the Jets, who retained the right to match any offer sheet to Morton by making him a qualifying offer in February, appealed to the Management Council, essentially the league's labor arm, contesting the voidable years. The Management Council subsequently ruled that the voidable years did not represent a "principal term" of the offer and did not have to be matched.

I will have to place the blame on the Management Council of the NFL -- they cost the Jets this one.

It is a good pickup for the Redskins, and that first Thursday Night game should be a lot more interesting - since it appears it will be the Jets vs the Jets.

I don't buy it...

Anyone managing a pro football team HAS to be aware of all the rules. In case of any doubt they could have contacted league counsel to get a clarification.

This was just an example of a team trying to take advantage of a player and the player's agent being wise enough to call them on it.

I wonder if this type of situation ever happened before but was never appealed....there might be some players out there calling their agents now to get the low down
