CPEPP to AZ??????????

Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the rumor within the NFL on Monday was that the Vikings are considering trading starting quarterback Daunte Culpepper to the Cardinals for the sixth pick in this year's draft. The Vikes would then own the sixth and seventh selections.

Culpepper is worth more than the 6th overall pick. There would have to be more involved.

I think that would be a great trade for the Cardinals, but not quite sure what the Vikings are thinking. Frerotte might be okay, and they could draft a QB with one of those picks, but I think overall, this kind of deal would hurt the overall value of the entire team - FF wise.

It's not as crazy as it sounds...

look at it this way... MN knows that they can be successful on offense with a "modern" QB rather than a drop back passer. Maybe they think CPepp hit his peak and that his turnovers simply won't come down. So they look at Leftwich who has all the same physical tools and figure he might have a higher upside.

Now they know how to groom a QB with this type of athleticsm. Plus they get young and talented in a hurry with the 6 and 7.

On the AZ side...this is the worst run team in the league. FAR surpassing any jokes one could make about the Bengals. They let their starting WRs go, sign a new QB who now has no one to throw to, then think about trading for another QB? Sign a RB when they finally have the answer at RB with Shipp. And with all the money they have freed up...they don't sign ANY players at need position. Maybe they think it's a fantasy team...just keep getting QBs and RBs and someone will come looking for a trade.

I think they should just stick with the pick and grab Andre Johnson.

WOW ! im surprised. Though I agree with your logic here Nero, I just cant see it being in the interests of the Viks do get rid of Cpep at this point.

It would be great for the cards tho :-)

Bad move for Minn

Good for Arizona

You are right he does have a lot of turnovers but he still has a great arm and is a double threat with his legs. Even with the turnovers Culpepper is still a real big time weapon that Minn would have problems replaceing.

If this deal goes through

Here comes Jeff George back to Minny.....lol

It could happen, but I really doubt it will.

Daunte had a down year, but only because he fumbled so many times. That is correctable. I think the Vikes will hang onto him. At least being a fan I hope so.

At least this would answer all the "should I keep Jeff Blake" questions out there. ;-)
