The Detroit Free Press reports free agent running back Olandis Gary visited the Lions on Monday. Gary sat on the Broncos' bench for much of last year after losing the starting job to Clinton Portis. The Lions have already signed Shawn Bryson this offseason, but are obviously still looking for depth at running back behind James Stewart. Gary, Bryson, and Stewart all have experienced injury problems in recent seasons.
Regarding OG.....word out of Denver is that although his name is being bounced around by the likes of KC, Dallas, Detroit, and possibly Buffalo, if Detroit puts together a multi-year deal for Olandis, chances are they would make him their starter. If that happens, you'd definately want to take a chance on him. He's a hard between the tackles runner and can finish a drive off at the goaline. Solid #3 back with a possibility of being a #2.
???????? I don't know what the hell they're doing. Det is already paying Stewart 5 mil a season. They sign Bryson, and now possibly Gary. I seriously doubt they could trade Stewart and cutting him would be stupid. Also, it's not like Stewart is a 3rd down back or anything, so what are they going to do with all these guys? Maybe Stewart 1st down, Gary 2nd down, and Bryson 3rd? Maybe I'll start rooting for the Browns so Slow has some company.
Wherever Gary ends up, I see him getting to carry the rock. I could see this happening, but also wonder what they would do with all of those runningbacks.
