TROUBLE FOR MICHIGAN STATE'S ROGERS?

Postby Nero » Mon Apr 14, 2003 3:10 pm

Chris Mortenson, of ESPN.com, reports Michigan State WR Charles Rogers tested positive for a masking agent administered at the combine in Indianapolis. The masking agent is used to dilute one's urine and he is likely to find himself in the evaluation stage of the NFL's substance-abuse program after being drafted.

Did they say if the masking agent was for steroids or something like Coke? If the guy went out and had some pot after the season I could care less. If he is hooked on coke, his status drops off a lot. If it is steroids and he is going to come into the season 30 lbs lighter and slower, he drops more too. How do you think this will effect the jockying for draft position? I don't think it will have an effect just yet. Interesting development though.

good find nero,

this definately throws a wrench in his workings. this could drop him in the draft with all the obvious questions sandwhich brought up. something you should keep tabs on

Here's the link guys. Read the whole story. His agent says that it was due to an excess amount of water.

In either case I really don't think his stock will drop. The Lions will still pick him #2.

Sapp tested positive for not a masking agent but marijuana and look at him. Moss had some attitude problems out of college and look at him. Bottom line is these two perform on the field. Rogers potential will over shadow this.

Hmm. I definitely don't buy the explanation that excess water was the "masking agent." How does one test positive for having too much water in their urine? Since his urine was 99.6 % water instead of 99.2 % water let's put him in the substance abuse program?

Sounds more like damage control to me, since the agent probably stands to make 20% of Rogers' salary. I doubt it will stop the Lions from taking him 2nd though.

I think if he is hooked on the harder stuff, it could drop him down some. Bears watching - so I'll try to do so, but I know most of you will too!!

As for the excess water, I know by experience that that can, and does happen. I almost didn't get my job because I had too much water in my piss. I drank a lot of water before the test so I would have no problem going. I thought it would be embarrassing to have stage fight in front of the nurse. They gave me 24 hours to take it again or I would never be able to work there again. I believe he should get the same chance...
